Iran. It seems to be on the lips of every journo lately. So, are they building a nuke or aren’t they?
The media is doing an all-out propaganda blitz it seems. Every chance they get, they have some “expert” talking about how Iran is supposedly in a fervent rush to build a nuclear weapon.
Never mind that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Never mind that Iran has stated they are not pursuing a nuclear weapon. Never mind that US intelligence agencies state that there is no evidence to support that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. Forget all of that, facts are too inconvenient. Iran is building nuclear weapons because they want to “wipe Israel off the map” (I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine how accurate that quote is – Google is your friend). Forget that Israel has somewhere between 75 and 400 nuclear weapons themselves (they will not let inspectors in… yet somehow we’re not discussing attacking them). Israel is NOT a signer of the NPT ((Non-Proliferation Treaty)).
Have a listen to audio of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testify before the Senate:
[audio:http://dol.ajgraves.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/iran-no-plans-for-nukes.mp3]You hear that? Ok, so everybody is suspicious of Iran. So what? Try on an Iranian’s shoes for a minute, why don’t you… Do you think Iran is suspicious of us? For the last decade we’ve had Iran surrounded by bases on two sides (Iraq and Afghanistan). We’ve got an impressive armada of ships in the Persian Gulf. And all this talk of preemptive strikes… Why wouldn’t Iran want “the bomb”?
The US has demanded that Iran halt all uranium enrichment. But it is Iran’s right under the NPT ((Non-Proliferation Treaty)) to do so. So here we are, one sovereign nation, telling another sovereign nation that it can’t do something that it is well within its rights to do.
A recent article in The Daily Caller stated:
All of this is supposedly being done to thwart Iran’s nuclear weapons program. There’s just one problem: there’s no evidence that program exists.
All 16 U.S. intelligence agencies concluded in 2007, and again in 2011, that there is no military dimension to Iran’s nuclear program. And despite the hyperbolic reporting on it, the latest report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said, “the Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material.”
Anyways, all of this was brought on by a recent USAToday/AP article that speculates, based on the presence of trucks at an Iranian military facility, that they are attempting to clean up evidence of their nuclear ambitions. Yes, folks… trucks. We’re going to go to war over Iran because they have an impressive display of… trucks.
This is, for lack of a better way of saying it, horse shit. The American public was bamboozled into believing that Iraq was a dangerous threat. That assessment later proved to be woefully incorrect (Bush regrets Iraq Invasion based on Intelligence Failure, US Leaving Iraq in Worse Shape Than Saddam). Now the propagandists are at it again, trying to tell us that we can under no circumstances allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
Everything outside of the mainstream media tells us that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has stated “We are not after an atomic weapon.”
Here’s the rub. Iran is not attempting to build a nuclear weapon. If they do, it’s because they were bullied into it by the actions of our present administration and Israel. If they were to build a weapon, they would most assuredly not use it. And as far as “terrorists” getting access to Iranian nukes, they could more readily acquire them from Pakistan (which already has them) or one of the many nuclear weapons that went missing from the former Soviet Union (including 84 suitcase bombs).
Don’t believe the propaganda. Do your own research. Come to your own conclusions.
