Remember the Hutaree Militia?

Nine members of the militia were arrested back in March 2010, accused of being involved in a conspiracy to kill cops and start a battle with the feds. Oh, and lest you forget, the media wants to remind you that they are a “Christian militia.”

Yea, those guys.

On the 27th, the judge threw out the vast majority of the case. The only charges that stuck were some firearm related charges:

David Stone, Sr. and Joshua Stone “admitted that they possessed machine guns, specifically a Bushmaster .223 caliber rifle and a Double Star Corp. .223 caliber rifle, respectively, knowing that the firearms would shoot, and were designed to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of then trigger,” according to a Justice Department press release.

They both face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Based on their felony convictions, the Stones will never be allowed to possess firearms again. (Source.)

The judge felt that David Stone’s heated rhetoric against law enforcement didn’t amount to a specific plot and that the evidence against other members of the militia was weak.

The feds have a track record of doing poorly when it comes to targeting what they call “extremist groups.” (Surely you remember the Branch Davidians.)

Which brings me to the point of this article. Next time, the feds won’t bother with arrests. They will simply send in the drones.

The Obama administration has already stated that they have the authority to kill its own citizens as it sees fit. (Source.) Not only that, but they have already done it. (Source.)

The next time the government sets its sights on a Hutaree-like group, there will be no indictment. There will be no trial.

Instead, we will see either one of two things. Option 1: A bright flash, and a loud boom, and everything turns to dust. Option #2, the members are arrested and indefinitely detained without being charged (thanks to the NDAA).

As always, I’m interested in what you have to say. Sound off in the comments below.
